RIP Bob Marley

30 years ago today, the world lost not only a legendary artist, but also a man of great character, love, peace, and faith. Bob Marley was born in Nine Mile, Jamaica, on February 6th, 1945. His mother was Jamaican and his father was English. Marley started playing music at a young age, and later formed the Wailers with Peter Tosh, Bunny Livingston, Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith. They were originally called "The Teenagers" but later were known as "The Wailers". In 1966, some members left the Wailers, and only Bob, Peter, and Bunny remained. They continued to tour and make music together until 1974 when Bunny and Peter left the group. Bob continued to record music as "Bob Marley and The Wailers". In July 1977 Bob was diagnosed with acral lentiginous melanoma, but continued to tour.Marley died on May 11, 1981. His last words to his son Ziggy Marley were "Money can't buy life". Marley was a member of the Rastafari movement, whose culture was a big influence in the development of Reggae. RIP Bob Marley. You were a legendary musician,  lover, man of peace and faith, and had a big heart.
